Job Description

We are seeking a Visual Art Assistant to join us at the Pakenham Campus. 

This role is responsible for working in partnership with the Visual Arts teaching staff to provide effective learning outcomes for students of Visual Arts at Beaconhills.

The role

  • This is a part time (0.60 FTE), permanent position 
  • Commencing 22 January 2026
  • This position is at our Pakenham Campus
  • This position requires a current employee WWCC and police check
  • This position is term time only and you are not required to work during our 13 weeks school holidays
  • 3 days per week, 8:00am to 4:21pm with a 45 minute unpaid lunch break 
  • Pro rata salary ranging from $34,762 to $38,709 (already adjusted to include 13 weeks school holidays included) 

The duties

  • Assist Visual Art teachers with general classroom duties, especially during the set-up and clean-up phase of the lesson
  • Manage kiln, firing ceramics, 2D and 3D printing and laser cutting 
  • Coordinate student borrowing of equipment and resources
  • Maintenance of photographic darkroom, safe management of chemicals
  • Support the VA team in the curation and exhibiting of art work in the gallery and around the College
  • Liaise with suppliers, order and manage equipment and materials
  • Change displays and art collection around the college
  • Assist with planning and managing competitions and artist workshops

About you 

  • Likely to be a passionate and practicing artist
  • Skills and experience in Visual Arts
  • Experience in Adobe programs, such as Photoshop and Illustrator ideal 
  • Skills in computer print and design 
  • Able to work independently
  • School based experience an advantage
  • Relevant qualifications in Arts, Fine Arts or Design also an advantage
